This is Merino at its absolute finest - soft, characterful, and beautifully real.
We are completely in love with 90 Varas by Wool Dreamers. A truly special yarn that combines softness, heritage, and just a whisper of rustic charm (without any itch).
This is how Merino should feel: gentle, breathable, wearable, cosy… not overly processed, not squeaky-smooth, just totally honest and gorgeous.
So yep, we carry every single colour 😊.
This yarn is spun from transhumant Merino wool - fleece from flocks that still migrate seasonally across Spain, following ancient grazing routes that have shaped the landscape and culture for centuries. This practice is called transhumance, and it’s recognised by UNESCO as an important piece of living cultural heritage.
And the result is wool with real depth, life, softness, and warmth. Wool Dreamers have dyed this wool into melange shades with natural shades and highlights. Every skein carries a sense of time, place, weather, and land.
The name of this collection, 90 Varas, refers to the traditional unit of measurement once based on the "vara", a staff carried by shepherds for support and, in earlier centuries, also used as a measuring tool. The standard width of these routes was set at 90 varas, equivalent to 75 meters. Stretching more than 125,000 kilometers and covering 1% of Spanish territory, they stand as a living testimony to the balance between nature and human activity.
Wearable right next to skin, this yarn is perfect for garments and accessories alike.
It blooms beautifully with a gentle block and creates fabric that that's supple and bouncy.
This yarn represents everything we love at Tribe: sustainability, small-scale production, care for animals, respect for tradition, and fibre that actually feels alive. Oh, and the colours are outrageously beautiful. And knits like a dream.90 VARAS is that ancient language returning:
the width that guarantees passage,
the sky that sets the course,
and a way of walking that still sustains life. -

Wooldreamers was created by the 4th Generation of our Family Mill where the family work with every stage of wool: from the sheep to the yarn.
The Wooldreamers project aims to be part of the solution to the critical problem of Spanish wool being undervalued, and in some cases treated as wastedue to global market conditions.
Nowadays, our family mill covers all stages of Spanish wool production, right from shearing the sheep to spinning the yarn under the same roof. This means we are the only ones treating the wool from the very beginning. So we can guarantee the quality of yarn, with minimum carbon emissions AND we can guarantee the traceability of our yarn from the sheep to your hands.
We have been working very closely with local Spanish farmers on the adoption of preferable techniques and sharing knowledge in order to produce the very best yarn, always focusing on animal welfare. After many years of prep we launched our first collections, starting with Dehesa de Barrera - 100% Spanish Merino Wool Yarn with full traceability (coming to Tribe soon!)
Our second collection was Manchelopi: A unique and soft unspun yarn made with Manchega Wool. The white and black wool comes from 2 different flocks near our hometown. This yarn is so different and light. Everyone who tries it falls in love with it.
And last but not least, we would like to share something that we are very committed to. In the planning of each collection, we collaborate with people with disabilities at risk of social exclusion. People who deserve to be rewarded for the great work they do. They help us with the labelling and braiding of our skeins. So, to sum up, we are a project that pays special attention to sustainability, helping farmers to continue caring for their flocks, supporting local wool, and showing solidarity with our vulnerable community.@wooldreamers - Instagram
