    • The latest new yarn to make the cut from the Tribe lab! We're so excited!!

  • Missed out on the "launch price"? Don't even worry. £49 for 450m of handspun silk is, frankly, a bit ridiculous. Normally yarn like this gets marked up at every step along the way - we’ve cut all of that out. We work directly with the makers, so you’re basically getting it at wholesale. No nonsense, no middlemen.

Less sleek, more tousled. More bedhead than boardroom...

BedHead Silk is a 100% handspun silk yarn, that's unapologetically interesting. Thick and thin, slightly wild, and completely unique - no two metres are the same.

This is silk with texture, and attitude.

It’s beautifully soft (properly soft after a block), but with a rustic edge that gives it "presence" on the needles. The irregular thickness creates built-in interest as you knit, so even the simplest stitches look incredible without trying too hard.

You’ve got loads of flexibility with needle size. Go tighter on 4mm for a more structured fabric, or open it up on 6–7mm for something looser, drapier, and more relaxed.

It’s a brilliant yarn for playing around and seeing what happens, and it plays nicely with other yarns too.

Working with yarn like this feels different. It's very tactile. Your finished piece will have that slightly imperfect, completely special and expensive, haute couture quality that machine-spun yarn just can’t replicate.

We think it’s PERFECT for statement pieces, relaxed garments, textured accessories, and anything where you want the yarn itself to shine. And it's very strong, so you don't have to be precious with your finished items.

PS - Since this is 100% Silk - it WILL grow when wet blocked! It behaves like a dupioni silk. So, if you wet block it, it will grow, relax, soften, and bleed some colour (normal for silk). If you don't want your FO to change, we recommend dry-cleaning it when required.

This is silk… just not as you know it (yikes, cheesyyyy..).

{Oh also, the ball band has a nifty snip off bit that you can use as a garment label with washing instructions.
    The rest of the ribbon?
    Tie it in your hair, your knitting, or something else entirely... In a very good book. Or luggage id. Mark it up with cm/"... Skinny scarf?? blindfold.. }

Another top tip from one of our lovely Tribe: don't centre-pull, and don't knit this yarn with snaggy callouses on your hands. (Thanks, Jen!)

  • 100% Silk – Naturally Luxurious with a Raw Edge

Silk has been prized for thousands of years for its strength, softness, and natural sheen. Traditionally associated with smooth, refined fabrics, silk is often processed to achieve a uniform, polished finish.

Bed Head Silk takes a different approach.

This yarn is handspun, meaning the fibres are twisted by hand rather than machine, resulting in its distinctive thick-and-thin texture. This preserves more of the fibre’s natural character and creates a yarn that feels more organic, more tactile, and far more individual.

Despite its delicate feel, silk is incredibly strong for its weight, producing fabrics that are lightweight yet durable, breathable, and comfortable to wear across seasons.

The irregularity in this yarn enhances those qualities, creating pieces with movement, texture, and a unique visual depth.

This is silk in a more honest form - less polished, more expressive, and all the more interesting for it.
